Joseph Beuys famously said that everyone is an artist. I think he’s right. I believe that performed at its highest realization every form of human expression can be considered as art. Therefore it doesn’t matter whether we talk about a painter, a carpenter, an actress, an engineer, a teacher, a designer, or an athlete.
I got curious about sports photography when covering the 2009 Porsche Tennis Grand Prix in Stuttgart on behalf of the official website of Olympic Champion Elena Dementieva. It perfectly matches my interest for visual arts and sports.
While tennis remains to be my favourite sport and the one discipline where I have a profound knowledge of all its processes and competitors, I later also started exploring surfing and skating.
